We’re always thrilled to have our hard work recognized. In this year's Israel Star 2025 Awards, our solutions have won us not one, but two awards in the sustainable packaging category.
The first is our ultra- lightweight SustainaPPack made from mono-material PP, already well known to many of our customers, but the second one still didn't get its moment to shine. This new CPET tray will also be submitted to the WorldStar contest organized by the World Packaging Organization (WPO).
A New Standard for In-Flight Dining
Designed for a chef-crafted ready-to-eat meal with in-flight dining in mind, our new tray is designed to maximize customer convenience and satisfaction. Its geometry includes three compartments, including a small sauce compartment. This presents challenges, especially in making sure the delicate design of the small compartment can withstand retort sterilization, which involves high pressure and temperatures reaching 120°C.
Crafted for Performance and Sustainability
Manufactured via the thermoforming of films made from a special blend of materials and additives, our tray can withstand most sterilization processes, including pasteurization and retort sterilization, as well as heating in microwaves or industrial ovens up to 220°C.
The design and formulation also ensure the trays can be hermetically sealed, even when liquids or food residues are interfering, guaranteeing food safety and extended shelf life. The tray also addresses environmental concerns, being a mono-material fully recyclable within standard PET recycling streams.
The Advantages of SustainaPPack
Of course, we shouldn't forget our SustainaPPack, though it is no stranger to the spotlight. The ultra-lightweight PP tray results in a 10% to 30% weight reduction and a subsequent reduction of carbon footprint. It is fully recyclable in common PP recycling streams and has excellent insulation properties. Truly a winner.
Pushing Ahead with Sustainable Packaging
Winning the Israel Star 2025 Awards twice is a huge honor, and sending our CPET tray to the World Star competition feels like it could be the icing on the cake, or maybe the sauce in the compartment. We’re proud of the work we do and excited to keep pushing boundaries in sustainable packaging, creating a better, greener future.
